Overview
This 4-day course is designed to equip learners with geospatial skills using Esri ArcGIS Pro, with a focus on applying GIS concepts, spatial data management, mapping, analysis, and visualisation to real-world workplace use cases.
Learners will be introduced to the end-to-end GIS workflow, from understanding geospatial data and coordinate systems to creating maps, managing geodatabases, editing GIS layers, performing spatial analysis, and presenting insights through effective map design and storytelling.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to manage and interpret spatial data, create and edit GIS layers, apply basic geoprocessing and spatial analysis techniques, design clear map outputs, and communicate findings using geospatial visualisation tools.
Describe the role of GIS and geospatial technology in workplace applications. Navigate the ArcGIS Pro interface and manage GIS project files. Create and organise GIS projects using local and online data sources. Explain common spatial data types and GIS data models. Create and manage feature classes and file geodatabases. Import, export, and organise spatial data. Understand spatial reference systems and coordinate systems. Apply basic geocoding and map scale concepts. Create maps using appropriate symbology, labels, and layer properties. Work with attribute tables, joins, relates, and field calculations. Select data by attributes and location. Create and edit GIS features and attribute information. Use ArcGIS Pro geoprocessing tools for basic spatial analysis. Perform proximity and overlay analysis for workplace scenarios. Design map layouts for reporting, presentation, and communication. Share GIS outputs through maps, layouts, and visualisation tools. Apply GIS workflows to a practical scenario or mini project.
This course is ideal for working professionals who need to apply geospatial tools and location-based data in their work.
