SSF1G - IBM DS8000 Implementation Workshop for z Systems

Duration: 3 days

To learn the DS8000 storage subsystem and its hardware components and logical structure. You configure the DS8000 storage subsystem using a DS8000 Storage Manager GUI and review the DS CLI interface for scripting configuration functions. You will also perform dynamic data relocation using Easy Tier function.

  • Describe the hardware components of the IBM DS8000
  • Recognize the architecture of the DS8000
  • Install the DS CLI interface
  • Configure the DS8000 for System z environment using DS CLI
  • Configure the DS8000 for System z environment using DS GUI
  • Recall the zSeries host attachment considerations
  • Recognize the DS8000 Copy Services
  • Classify performance, tuning, and monitoring for DS8000
  • Only Windows servers are used during all the lab sessions to access
  • DS8000 storage using DSCLI and DS GUI

This course is for system administrators, architects, and storage specialists. Anyone who needs to learn about DS8000 implementation and experiment with them on a real test configuration.

  • An Introduction to Data Storage (SS05)
  • Fundamentals in Storage Management (SS06)
  • Or equivalent knowledge.

In addition you need to have an understanding of DASD and date sets and how client hosts access data directly or through FICON channels.

This course is not associated with any Certification.
